Daily Update: Russia Loses 1,260 Troops and 60 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russian forces lost an estimated 1,260 troops and 60 artillery systems over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on August 12.

The latest figures bring Russia’s total estimated personnel losses since the start of its full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, to approximately 1,461,660.

According to the General Staff, Russian forces also lost seven armored combat vehicles, two multiple launch rocket systems, one air defense system, 13 UGVs, and 1,767 operational-tactical UAVs over the past day.

Ukraine additionally reported the destruction of 388 vehicles and fuel tankers and two pieces of special equipment. No Russian tanks, aircraft, helicopters, or cruise missiles were recorded as destroyed during the reporting period.

Russia’s cumulative equipment losses are estimated at 12,259 tanks, 25,127 armored combat vehicles, 47,773 artillery systems, 2,022 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,561 air defense systems, 439 aircraft, 354 helicopters, 2,203 UGVs, 456,339 operational-tactical UAVs, 5,007 cruise missiles, 35 ships and boats, two submarines, 132,931 vehicles and fuel tankers, and 4,516 pieces of special equipment.

Ukraine’s General Staff recorded 237 combat engagements across the front over the past 24 hours.

The heaviest fighting was reported in the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka sectors, which remained the most active areas of the battlefield during the reporting period.

Earlier, British Ambassador to Ukraine Neil Crompton said Russian forces are suffering heavy losses in eastern Ukraine while making only limited battlefield gains, describing their advance as slower than a snail.
