Daily Update: Russia Loses 1,750 Troops, 49 Artillery Systems, 1,742 UAVs in One Day

Russia lost an estimated 1,750 troops, 49 artillery systems, and 1,742 operational-tactical UAVs over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on October 4.

According to the latest Ukrainian military estimate, Russia’s total personnel losses since the start of its full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, have reached approximately 1,540,700. Russian forces also lost six armored combat vehicles, bringing the cumulative total to 25,483, while estimated tank losses remained unchanged at 12,391.
Another 49 artillery systems were added to the tally, bringing Russia’s estimated cumulative losses in the category to 50,686. Ukraine also reported one additional multiple-launch rocket system, raising the overall total to 2,179.
Russia lost three air defense systems over the past day, bringing the cumulative figure to 1,686, while estimated aviation losses remained unchanged at 443 aircraft and 356 helicopters.
The General Staff also recorded 13 ground robotic systems lost over the past day, raising the cumulative total to 2,837. Another 1,742 operational-tactical UAVs were added to the tally, bringing the total to approximately 546,240.

Russia’s estimated cruise missile losses remained unchanged at 5,126, while naval losses stayed at 35 ships and boats and two submarines. Another 527 vehicles and fuel tankers were recorded as lost, bringing the cumulative figure to 157,258. Ukraine also reported five additional pieces of special equipment, raising that total to 4,788.
Fighting remained intense across the front, with Ukrainian forces recording 204 combat engagements over the latest reporting period.
According to the General Staff, the Pokrovsk sector saw the heaviest fighting, with Ukrainian forces stopping 31 Russian attacks. Another 16 attacks were recorded in the Kostiantynivka sector, while Ukrainian forces repelled 13 attacks in the South Slobozhanskyi sector.
Russian forces also launched nine attacks in the Lyman sector, seven in the Sloviansk sector, five in the Huliaipole sector, four each in the North Slobozhanskyi and Kupiansk sectors, three in the Oleksandrivka sector, and two in the Kramatorsk sector.
No active Russian offensive operations were recorded in the Orikhiv and Prydniprovskyi sectors, while the situation in the Volyn and Polissia sectors remained largely unchanged, with no signs of Russian offensive formations being established.
Earlier, the Institute for the Study of War said Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s claims of major battlefield gains in September “border on hallucinations,” as Russian forces actually ended the month with a net territorial loss of about 81 square kilometers.
