Russia Turns Tank Into Disposable Battlefield Taxi—Ukraine’s FPVs Finish the Job, Video

Russian troops used a tank as an improvised transport vehicle to reach their positions before abandoning the armored vehicle and fleeing on foot, leaving Ukrainian FPV drone operators to destroy it, Ukraine’s 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade reported on September 8.

Footage released by the brigade shows the Russian assault group riding on the tank until it reaches a tree line. The soldiers then quickly dismount and scatter, while the vehicle is left behind.

Ukrainian FPV crews subsequently begin striking the abandoned tank.

“We are observing interesting and strange enemy behavior in their attempts to reach their positions. One Russian group stood out in particular by using a tank as a disposable means of transportation. Afterward, they simply abandoned it for our FPVs and fled. The result—a competition for E-Points between our units,” the 66th Brigade said.

The episode reflects the increasingly unconventional ways Russian assault groups are using armored vehicles to move troops across areas heavily monitored by Ukrainian drones.

Rather than keeping the tank in action after delivering the infantry, the crew appears to have treated it primarily as a protected means of reaching the position before abandoning it under the threat of FPV strikes.

It is not the first time Ukrainian forces have encountered Russian armor left behind under unusual circumstances.

Earlier, troops from Ukraine’s 81st Separate Airmobile Slobozhanska Brigade captured an operational Russian T-72 without firing a shot after its crew abandoned the tank when it ran out of fuel during a retreat.

“This T-72 tank is special—it is a trophy. And our guys got it without firing a single shot. All because the fuel gauge in the Russian vehicle hit zero,” Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces said.
