Russia’s Military Infrastructure Near Luhansk Airfield Goes Up in Smoke After Ukrainian Strike

Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a Russian military infrastructure facility near a former airfield in the temporarily occupied city of Luhansk on November 3, triggering a fire and sending thick black smoke rising above the area.
Footage of the aftermath was published by the OSINT monitoring channel Exilenova+, showing a fire burning on the grounds of a military installation.

The strike targeted an area near the former Luhansk airfield, where Russian forces have previously been observed deploying military aviation assets.
According to Militarnyi, Russian Ka-52 and Mi-28 attack helicopters, along with Mi-8/Mi-17 transport helicopters, have previously been documented at the airfield.
In addition to its aviation-related infrastructure, the surrounding area has been used by Russian occupation forces to accommodate military personnel and equipment.

In particular, Russian troops have used the grounds of the former Luhansk Higher Military Aviation School of Navigators, located near the airfield, for these purposes.
The reported strike in Luhansk follows another Ukrainian attack targeting Russian military aviation infrastructure in late October.

On October 23, Ukrainian forces launched a missile strike against Russia’s Baltimor military airfield in Voronezh, a major base used by Su-34 fighter-bombers, according to the Exilenova+ OSINT community.
Preliminary reports suggested that the strike hit aircraft parking areas and the grounds surrounding the former Voronezh Military Aviation Engineering University, situated immediately adjacent to the airfield.
