Russia’s Total Combat Losses Reach 1.457 Million as Ukraine Reports 1,130 Troops Lost in One Day

Russian forces lost an estimated 1,130 troops over the past 24 hours, bringing Russia’s total personnel losses since the start of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine to approximately 1,457,740, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on August 9.

The latest battlefield assessment also recorded significant Russian equipment losses, including two tanks, four armored combat vehicles, and 41 artillery systems.

Russian forces additionally lost four multiple launch rocket systems, nine unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), 1,642 operational-tactical UAVs, 358 vehicles and fuel tankers, and one piece of special equipment during the reporting period, according to the General Staff.

Russia’s cumulative equipment losses are now estimated at 12,253 tanks, 25,103 armored combat vehicles, 47,621 artillery systems, 2,013 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,556 air defense systems, 439 aircraft, 354 helicopters, 2,171 UGVs, 451,248 operational-tactical UAVs, and 5,007 cruise missiles.

Ukraine also estimates that Russia has lost 35 ships and boats, two submarines, 131,775 vehicles and fuel tankers, and 4,505 pieces of special equipment since February 24, 2022.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s General Staff reported 231 combat engagements across the front line over the past day.

The heaviest Russian offensive activity was recorded on the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka axes, where Ukrainian forces faced 29 and 24 attacks respectively.

On the South Slobozhanshchyna axis, Ukrainian troops repelled 19 Russian attacks, while another 15 assaults were recorded on the Sloviansk axis and 14 on the Huliaipole axis.

Russian forces also carried out 12 attacks on the Lyman axis, nine on the Kupiansk axis, five across the North Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, three on the Kramatorsk axis, and two each on the Oleksandrivka and Orikhiv axes.

Ukraine’s General Staff reported no Russian assault operations on the Prydniprovskyi axis and said there were no signs of Russian offensive groupings being formed along the Volyn and Polissia directions.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Navy struck Russian military infrastructure on the Syvash offshore drilling platform in the Black Sea, destroying equipment used to control strike drones and monitor Ukrainian naval activity.
