Ukraine Strikes Two Russian S-400 Launchers, Drone Sites and Logistics Depots

Ukrainian forces struck two launchers belonging to a Russian S-400 air defense system in Russia’s Bryansk region, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on September 17.

According to the General Staff, the S-400 launchers were targeted near the settlement of Vygonichi in the Bryansk region. The extent of the damage was not immediately specified.

The strikes were part of a broader series of Ukrainian attacks against Russian military assets and logistics facilities both inside Russia and in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces also targeted facilities used to store, prepare, and launch Russian strike drones near temporarily occupied Donetsk, according to the General Staff.

Elsewhere in the Donetsk region, Ukrainian forces struck Russian logistics and materiel depots in Kurakhivka and Nova Marivka. Another logistics depot was targeted in temporarily Luhansk.

The General Staff also reported strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel near Strilkove in the Kherson region and Druzhne in the Luhansk region.

The S-400 is Russia’s primary long-range air defense system, with the 92N6E radar playing a crucial role by detecting, tracking, and guiding engagements against multiple targets at the same time.

The latest attacks follow another series of Ukrainian strikes on Russian military assets carried out on September 15 and overnight into September 16. During those operations, Ukrainian forces targeted a Russian Su-24 combat aircraft at the Saky airfield in temporarily occupied Crimea.
