Slovakia Joins International Coalition to Bring Stolen Ukrainian Children Home

Slovakia has formally joined the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.
Marek Eštok, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia, met with the ambassadors of Ukraine and Canada on November 2 to deliver the official diplomatic note confirming the country’s membership, as reported by Eštok on X.
We bring you stories from the ground. Your support keeps our team in the field.
Joining the global framework aims to support multinational endeavors to bring back young Ukrainians who were forcibly taken or relocated during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

"By joining, Slovakia is contributing to international efforts aimed at guaranteeing the safe return of Ukrainian children who were illegally deported or forcibly displaced during the war," Eštok stated.
Slovak officials noted that assistance to Ukrainian children extends beyond this single initiative.

The nation has supported repairing school bomb shelters inside Ukraine, hosted the children of Ukrainian emergency workers and police officers for stays in Slovakia, and integrated thousands of young Ukrainians into its domestic educational system.
"Our common goal is to see these children safely reunited with their families and returned home," Eštok added.
Previously, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that over 2,100 Ukrainian children forcibly taken by Russia had been successfully returned as part of the "Bring Kids Back UA " initiative.
According to his statement, this figure included 150 children who had been repatriated since the beginning of 2026.
The update followed a report presented by initiative representatives Oleksandr Bevz and Maksym Maksymov, after which Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to international partners for their support, noted the recent UN classification of the forced deportations as a crime against humanity, and highlighted upcoming coalition meetings aimed at securing further returns.
