An armed Ukrainian ground robot was carried across the water by an uncrewed maritime platform, landed on the Russian-held Kinburn Spit, and sent into combat—an operation the military described as the first known mission of its kind anywhere in the world.
The previously undisclosed unmanned ground vehicle was equipped with a Wolly 7.62 remotely operated weapon station, DevDroid’s press service told RBC-Ukraine on July 14.

Built around a PKM-pattern machine gun, the Wolly 7.62 is designed for combat and reconnaissance missions in difficult environments. Its remote-control system allows an operator to observe the battlefield and fire the weapon from a safer location.
The turret-mounted KT-7.62 machine gun can reportedly engage targets at distances of up to 1,000 meters, or roughly 0.6 miles.
DevDroid said artificial intelligence assists the operator with target acquisition during firing. The module’s primary roles include remote battlefield surveillance and engaging unarmored or otherwise exposed targets.
No soldiers. Just machines.

The UGV was transported to the temporarily occupied shoreline of the Kinburn Spit in Ukraine’s Mykolaiv region aboard an unmanned maritime platform. It was then unloaded on land and used to carry out a combat mission.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of Colonel Oleh Makukha, commander of Ukraine’s 123rd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, and Major Denys Hipik, commander of the brigade’s 1st Unmanned Systems Battalion.
“This is the first combat mission of its kind known to us anywhere in the world: an unmanned ground vehicle was delivered to an enemy-held shore by an uncrewed maritime platform, landed on the occupied territory of our native region, and used to carry out a combat mission,” the brigade said.

The unit said the unmanned raft and robotic vehicle made it possible to place equipment in an area where every section of coastline posed a danger, and deploying soldiers would have carried an unacceptably high risk.
Earlier, a Ukrainian unmanned ground combat system equipped with a machine gun helped Ukrainian forces repel a Russian assault on a frontline position.
The system first detected and destroyed two Russian “waiting” drones positioned near a road leading toward the Ukrainian position. After neutralizing the drones, the robot opened fire on approaching Russian infantry.
