Julie Davis has been appointed as the new Chargé d’Affaires of the United States in Ukraine, the US Embassy in Kyiv announced on its website. She will officially assume her duties on May 5.

According to the embassy, Davis will “work tirelessly to help end the war and stop the bloodshed, while strengthening the bilateral relationship and making both America and Ukraine safer, stronger, and more prosperous.”

She will serve in the role until President Donald Trump appoints a new ambassador.

Davis brings three decades of diplomatic experience. She is currently the US Ambassador to Cyprus and previously served as the Ambassador and Special Representative for Belarus, based in Vilnius. She has also held the position of Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Europe and the European Union and served as Deputy Permanent Representative to NATO.

Earlier in April, former US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink submitted her resignation after three years in the post.

It was previously announced that Ukraine is expected to ratify the recently signed US-Ukraine mineral deal within the next few weeks, according to Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyrydenko, in a comment for UNITED24 Media on May 1.
