“Appeasement Was Never the Road to Peace”: Tusk Urges Unified Western Pressure on Russia

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has urged Western nations to direct their pressure toward Russia, rather than Ukraine, as the path to ending the war and compelling Vladimir Putin to seek peace.

In a post on X on October 19, Tusk underscored that no Western leader has the authority to ask Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to compromise with the aggressor.

“None of us should put pressure on Zelenskyy when it comes to territorial concessions. We should all put pressure on Russia to stop its aggression. Appeasement never was a road to a just and lasting peace,” he stated.

In his lates address Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made it clear that Ukraine will not concede anything to Russia, nor will it forget the toll of the war.

“We will not give or forget anything,” he stated, underlining Kyiv’s determination to keep strengthening ties with global partners in both defense and energy sectors.

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine has no intention of making concessions to the aggressor or overlooking its actions. He warned that Russia represents a long-term threat and underscored the need for sustained cooperation across Europe. According to Zelenskyy, both immediate and strategic efforts are essential to ensure stability and security for the people.

Earlier, Russia launched an extensive resettlement initiative in the Ukrainian territories it occupies, presenting it as an effort to “bring back local residents.”
