Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged representatives at the Bucharest Nine (B9) summit in Lithuania on June 2 to consult their intelligence services about Russia’s intentions in Belarus this summer.

“Ask your intelligence, what is Russia planning this summer in Belarus? If they are bold enough to prepare attacks from there, then we need more strength together,” Zelenskyy said during his speech at the B9 summit.

Zelenskyy mentioned Ukraine’s historic operation conducted the day before, in which Ukrainian drones hit more than 40 aircraft at Russian airbases.

“We also have stronger tactical solutions. Our operation, Spider Web, yesterday proved that Russia must feel what its losses mean,” he said.

“That is what will push it toward diplomacy. And when Russia takes losses in this war, it’s obvious to everyone that Ukraine is the one holding the line, not just for itself, but for all of Europe.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Lithuania on June 2 to take part in the B9 summit.

The meeting, hosted by regional nations, is aimed at coordinating positions ahead of the upcoming NATO summit in The Hague. Discussions are expected to focus on continued support for Ukraine.

The B9 is a group of nine NATO member countries in Eastern and Central Europe that was established in 2015. It serves as a platform for these countries to coordinate their positions on regional security, especially in response to Russia’s aggressive actions following its annexation of Crimea in 2014.

On May 27, Zelenskyy stated that Russia has amassed 50,000 troops near the Sumy region amid reports from the Ukrainian military that Moscow may be preparing new assaults on Kharkiv.

At the same time, it was reported that the Ukrainian delegation has arrived in Istanbul for a second round of negotiations with representatives of the Russian Federation. Talks between the two sides are scheduled to take place in the afternoon of June 2.
