On February 21, a soldier from the 12th Azov Brigade sustained a severe shrapnel wound to the neck and received urgent medical aid, according to a video published by Azov Media on March 3.

Medics from the 12th Azov Brigade made a critical decision to deliver blood for a transfusion via drone, buying precious time for the casualty’s evacuation.

The situation then escalated further when Russian forces launched a coordinated attack on the evacuation vehicle, using FPV drones, drone-dropped munitions, and artillery.

The timely arrival of the blood enabled soldiers to administer a transfusion before the injured soldier was evacuated for further care. His condition has since stabilized, and doctors are continuing treatment.

Earlier, a farewell ceremony was held on Kyiv’s Maidan Nezalezhnosti for Ethan Hertweck, a 21-year-old U.S. Marine veteran killed in action while defending Ukraine.
