Belarus and Russia are jointly developing a project to create a new fifth-generation light single-engine fighter jet, the Su-75. Dmitry Pantus, head of the State Authority for Military Industry of Belarus, confirmed this initiative on May 26 during an interview on the state television channel “Belarus 1.”

Pantus stated that the two countries are working closely in aircraft manufacturing: “In aviation, we are cooperating very intensively, constantly broadening this partnership.”

“Together with Rosoboronexport and the United Aircraft Corporation, this project for the joint development of the Su-75 Checkmate aircraft is currently being explored.”

The lightweight fighter jet Su-75 Checkmate was unveiled for the first time at the MAKS 2021 International Aviation and Space Salon held in Zhukovsky near Moscow on July 20, 2021.

The Su-75 Checkmate, developed by Sukhoi under the United Aircraft Corporation, is a fifth-generation lightweight stealth fighter designed for cost-effective performance and export markets.

Built to rival the American F-35 and Chinese J-31, it features a single-engine layout and stealth design elements derived from the Su-57 program. The Su-75 reaches speeds between Mach 1.8 and 2.0, with a maximum range of nearly 3,000 kilometers and a combat payload capacity up to 7,400 kg.

On May 26, the final batch of Dutch F-16 fighter jets designated for Ukraine departed the Netherlands, according to the Dutch Ministry of Defense. With this shipment, the country has completed its donation of 24 F-16s to support Ukraine’s defense.
