Belgium will provide $108 million this year to purchase US weapons for Ukraine, Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on X on August 29.
The funding is part of NATO’s new initiative, the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), designed to streamline the delivery of weapons and equipment that the United States can supply in sufficient quantities to support Ukraine’s defense.
🇺🇦🇧🇪 Belgium will provide Ukraine with an additional €100 million in military aid this year through the #PURL mechanism. This funding goes on top of the €1 billion military aid that Belgium has already delivered.

Shmyhal noted that this package is in addition to the $1.08 billion in military assistance Belgium has already provided.
“I am grateful to my colleague Theo Francken, as well as to the Belgian people and government, for supporting Ukraine in our fight for freedom,” he said.
Under the PURL framework, NATO member states and partners can contribute voluntarily to finance US weapons and technology for Ukraine, helping strengthen the country’s defense and support conditions for a sustainable and just peace.
On August 26, Belgium has declared its readiness to contribute troops to a potential peacekeeping mission in Ukraine once active hostilities subside. Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot also confirmed that Belgium will deliver a batch of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine “in the coming months.”
