German automaker BMW announced on December 22 that it had identified export violations at its Hannover branch that enabled the delivery of vehicles to Russia. The breaches were uncovered through an internal audit, prompting the company to halt further sales of vehicles.

This was reported by Deutsche Welle, citing an official statement.

"Additionally, BMW Group has decided to dismiss the employees most responsible for this," the company's press service revealed.

According to DW, by making this statement, BMW confirmed the report by Business Insider, which previously stated that over 100 premium cars had been delivered to Russian customers from BMW's Hanover branch.

BMW Group also noted that products may sometimes enter the Russian market through so-called "grey import" channels, where goods are supplied by third-party vendors, bypassing official channels.

The company emphasized that it is taking active measures to prevent such incidents.

Previously, on November 14, Germany barred its state-operated terminals from accepting Russian liquefied natural gas, citing national security concerns as the driving factor.
