A decision is being prepared at the government level in Bulgaria regarding selling reactors to Ukraine for the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant.

This was reported by LIGA.net, citing the Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko during a session of the Ukrainian Parliament on March 14.

According to him, March 10 was the final day for reporting the results of negotiations to the Bulgarian Parliament.

“Thanks to the constructive support of the Ukrainian Parliament, which backed the relevant bill, we were able to conduct the negotiations in Bulgaria. The corresponding report was provided to the Parliament,” Halushchenko stated.

“The previous report, which was submitted to Parliament [in 2024] and after which we requested an extension for negotiations, stated that Ukraine showed no interest in pursuing this project,” Halushchenko explained.

He emphasized that this time, the report confirms Ukraine’s interest in the project and outlines the terms of the agreement.

“Now, a decision will be made at the government level in Bulgaria regarding the signing of the contract, where all aspects will be detailed,” the Minister explained.

On March 11, Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation reported a new wave of Russian disinformation alleging that Ukraine is planning a nuclear provocation at the Kursk nuclear power plant.
