Child Among 10 Killed as Russian Drones Ravage Ukrainian Dormitory in Sumy Region
Overnight on November 18, Russian forces launched an assault on a dormitory in Hlukhiv, Sumy region, with 2 Shahed strike drones. Ten people, including a child, were killed in the attack, and 13 others were injured, with 2 children among the wounded, according to the Sumy Regional Military Administration on November 19.
Rescue operations are ongoing as authorities state that more residents may still be trapped under the rubble. The extent of the damage and casualty figures are being verified.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, emphasizing the continued suffering of Ukraine’s border regions.
“Russia continues to terrorize our borderlands. Last night, a drone strike hit Hlukhiv, destroying a dormitory of one of the educational institutions. As of now, seven lives have been lost, including a child. My condolences go out to their families and loved ones. Over ten people were injured, including 2 children. There may still be people under the debris. Every effort is being made to save and assist everyone,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram.
At 9:18 a.m., Sumy region SES reported that a Russian strike killed 8 people and injured 11. There may be still up to 5 people trapped under the rubble.
As of 10:05 a.m. SES reported that 9 people were killed by the Russian strike and 4 others may be still trapped under the rubble.
At 10:55 a.m. SES added that the number of casualties spiked to 10, 13 people were wounded in the attack. Three people may still be under the rubble.
