CIA Director Bill Burns Arrives with a Visit in Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with CIA Director Bill Burns during what is expected to be Burns’ final visit to Ukraine while serving in his current role.
According to President Zelenskyy, he and Burns have held numerous meetings throughout Russia’s full-scale invasion, both in Ukraine and abroad. Most of these meetings were not disclosed to the public or officially announced.
“Now, after this last visit, it is worth acknowledging it openly. I wish Bill and his family all the best. May good fortune accompany him,” Zelenskyy stated on his official Telegram channel.
The Ukrainian president emphasized that while details of their discussions remain confidential, he intends to maintain contact with Burns.
This visit comes ahead of an anticipated leadership transition at the CIA. Following Donald Trump’s victory in the recent US presidential elections, the former president announced his intent to appoint John Ratcliffe as the next CIA director. Ratcliffe previously served as Director of National Intelligence under Trump’s administration and has a background as a prosecutor.
