British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, speaking at a press conference following the “Securing Our Future” Summit in London on March 2, announced the formation of a “coalition of the willing” to support a coordinated peace plan for Ukraine.
He underscored the broader consequences of instability in Europe, warning that the effects of war inevitably reach broader Europe.
“The one thing our history tells us is that if there is conflict in Europe, it will wash up on our shores,” Starmer said.
He pointed to the economic fallout of Russia’s war against Ukraine, noting that rising energy costs and broader economic instability have already impacted British households over the past three years.
His remarks come as European leaders work to solidify military and diplomatic support for Ukraine. Earlier, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called for strong security guarantees for Ukraine.
