Czechia Delivers 400,000 Shells to Ukraine as Part of Renewed Defense Initiative

By the end of April 2025, Czechia had delivered 400,000 large-caliber shells to Ukraine as part of the renewed “Czech Initiative.”
Czech Defense Minister Jana Černochová shared the update during an interview with Czech Television on April 27, as reported by CNN Prima News.
According to Minister Černochová, the Czech government allocated 1 billion korunas (approximately $45 million) to support the effort. She emphasized that some details remain classified due to national security concerns.
“I won’t disclose further information, as military intelligence operations involve sensitive matters that are not discussed publicly,” she noted.
The minister confirmed that funding is secured to sustain shell procurement through the fall. However, she avoided predicting whether this year’s deliveries will exceed the previous year’s numbers.
“We will deliver as many shells as we can source worldwide,” Černochová said.
The future pace of deliveries will hinge on international donors' contributions, she stressed, underlining the urgent need to maintain momentum and get critical supplies to Ukraine as swiftly as possible.
Minister Černochová also confirmed that other countries are stepping up and joining the Czech-led initiative, strengthening global support for Ukraine’s defense.
Earlier, a grassroots initiative across Slovakia and Czechia has delivered another batch of artillery ammunition to Ukrainian forces.
