Danish PM Announces $137 Million Military Aid for Ukraine During Kyiv Visit
Denmark has announced a $137 million (€130 million) investment to support Ukraine’s defense industry, emphasizing the importance of learning from Ukraine’s military resilience and innovation.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen made the statement during a joint press briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reported the Ukrainian news agency UNN on November 19.
“The new Danish contribution of over $137 million is directly aimed at Ukraine’s defense industry. It might seem strange that we are here celebrating our investments, but let me be clear: peace in Europe is only possible if we can defend ourselves,” Frederiksen said.
The Danish Prime Minister underlined the vital lessons Europe could take from Ukraine’s defense experience, particularly in developing and scaling up production lines.
“There is so much the rest of Europe can learn from you,” Frederiksen noted.
“It’s important that our industries—not just in Denmark, but across neighboring countries—come to Ukraine to learn from your experience and your ability to expand and develop production capabilities.”
Earlier, Ukraine signed a series of agreements with Denmark to purchase weapons from Ukrainian defense companies for €535 million.
