Ukraine and Denmark Sign €535 Million Arms Agreement to Boost Local Defense Procurement
Ukraine has signed a series of agreements with Denmark to purchase weapons from Ukrainian defense companies for €535 million.
The agreements, announced by Ukraine’s defense ministry, outline specific projects as well as timelines for funding and delivery of arms.
These agreements finalize arrangements outlined in a letter of intent signed in Kyiv in late September. The funds will support various procurements from Ukrainian defense companies, with financing provided by the governments of Denmark, Sweden, and interest generated from frozen Russian assets.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense and the Defense Procurement Agency provided Denmark with detailed information on manufacturers, weapon performance, production capacity, and anti-corruption compliance.
According to Hlib Kanievskyi, Director of the Procurement Policy Department, Ukrainian arms manufacturers—both state and private—will supply self-propelled artillery systems, strike drones, anti-tank weapons, and missile systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Under the "Danish model" of direct funding to manufacturers, Ukraine has already received €50 million, which has been allocated to produce "Bohdana" self-propelled artillery systems for the military.
Deputy Defense Minister Dmytro Klimenkov highlighted that the "Danish model" is a symbol of solidarity and commitment to supporting Ukraine’s fight for freedom and sovereignty.
