Defense Forces of Ukraine Are Conducting Counteroffensive Actions in Kharkiv Region

The Defense Forces of Ukraine have halted Russian troops in the Kharkiv direction and are conducting counteroffensive actions.

This was stated by the representative of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Ihor Prokhorenko, at a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center in Kyiv.

“As for the Kharkiv direction, the enemy is conducting offensive operations with the aim of creating a buffer zone. As of now, the enemy has been stopped, the situation is under control, and counteroffensive actions are being carried out,” said Colonel Prokhorenko.

The situation in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions is under control. Russia is gathering troops near the Russian-Ukrainian border, daily inflicting air and artillery strikes on border settlements, and using UAVs. The Russian forces are trying to destroy critical infrastructure objects, attacking them with missiles and Shahed drones.

On May 10, Russia started a new wave of offensive actions in the northern Kharkiv region. The Defense Forces are aware of Russia’s plans and are doing everything to thwart them and seize the initiative on the battlefield.
