Denmark has allocated 317 million kroner (approximately €42.5 million) for the purchase of artillery shells for Ukraine, the country’s Ministry of Defense announced on April 23.

The statement was made in the context of a meeting between Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen and his Estonian counterpart, Hanno Pevkur, during which, among other topics, the funding was set to be discussed.

The funding is part of Denmark’s 25th military aid package, and the procurement will be carried out through Estonia.

“It is absolutely crucial that Denmark and our close allies continue their support for Ukraine’s freedom struggle. There is a need for us to further target our support so that the Ukrainians can stand up to Russia’s aggression,” said Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen.

“A possible ceasefire must be followed up with concrete security guarantees, and Denmark has already confirmed that we are ready to contribute to a peacekeeping mission.”

In addition to funding for munitions, Denmark’s Ministry of Defense announced a decision to transfer other equipment and supplies to support Ukrainian brigades. Furthermore, Denmark, together with Norway and Sweden, is working on a plan for a joint transfer of armored personnel carriers to Ukraine.

On April 16, it was revealed that the Danish Armed Forces are preparing to send their soldiers to Ukraine to take part in military training courses.
