Denmark Confirms Troop Deployment to Ukraine for Drone Warfare Training

The Danish Armed Forces are preparing to send their soldiers to Ukraine to take part in military training courses. The move was confirmed by Major General Peter Boysen, Commander of the Danish Army, in an interview with TV 2 on April 16.
“In my 42 years of service, I’ve never seen military developments evolve this quickly,” Boysen said after observing his reconnaissance regiment training with advanced strike drones — similar to those now shaping warfare on Ukraine’s front lines.
Following two personal visits to Ukraine, Boysen is pushing to fast-track Denmark’s learning curve. The goal is to send multiple teams of soldiers to Ukrainian training camps to study modern battlefield tactics and drone warfare firsthand.
The number of courses and participants is still being finalized. But Boysen says both instructors and soldiers will take part in 1–2 week sessions, potentially starting as early as this summer.
“These soldiers aren’t going there to take an active part in the war”, he stated. “They’re going there to gain some experience, and this is at the invitation of my counterpart, the commander of the Ukrainian military.”
Peter Boyson also emphasised that all personnel will be unarmed and stationed far from combat zones, likely near training centers in western Ukraine.
Earlier, the European Union was weighing the possibility of sending military advisors to Ukraine under its mission to train Ukrainian forces.
