Authors

Denmark has announced a significant financial commitment aimed at supporting Ukraine and Moldova in their efforts to advance towards European Union membership. The Danish government has pledged 150 million Danish kroner, which equates to over $21 million, to assist these nations with specific measures designed to bolster their administrative structures and legislative frameworks necessary for aligning with EU standards. This assistance is expected to be disbursed over the course of the next decade, with the goal of facilitating their integration into the EU.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen highlighted the broader implications of successful EU enlargement, emphasizing its crucial role in reinforcing security and fostering a climate of peace and prosperity within and beyond the EU’s borders.

Earlier, on June 25, negotiations commenced for the accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the EU. The accession negotiations, which began in Luxembourg, involve two separate intergovernmental conferences convened by the EU with Ukraine and Moldova.
