On September 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the international community during the Crimean Platform Summit, held on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The summit brought together over 60 participants and marked the first time the forum took place on the global stage.

“It was in Crimea that Russia violated one of the basic rules of normal life between states, illegally annexing our Ukrainian Crimea,” Zelenskyy said. “The actions of Russia in Crimea showed many predators in the world how easily one can seize a part of another country. And this is not just a piece of land—it is a part of life.”

Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of remembering Crimea and holding Russia accountable.

“We must act so that Russia knows: we remember, we will not forgive, and we are fighting for the victory of international law and basic human justice,” he said.

He also warned against normalizing war, a strategy he said Russia seeks to impose globally.

“Do not allow war to become the norm. Russia wants to make war the new normal, and this is exactly what we must resist—we cannot allow killings and Russian occupation to become something the world simply turns a blind eye to. The occupier must be held accountable for the occupation and for all the crimes of this war, for which only Russia is responsible,” Zelenskyy added.

Previously, Ukraine’s military intelligence carried out a large-scale cyber operation against Russian proxy authorities in occupied Crimea, gaining access to more than 100 terabytes of classified data.
