Drone Attack Targets Key Russian Defense Facility in Kazan

A series of drone attacks reportedly targeted the Russian city of Kazan on the morning of December 21.

One of the key facilities in the city is the Kazan Gunpowder Plant, a critical enterprise for Russia’s military-industrial complex. The plant specializes in the production of explosives, rocket propellants, and other materials essential for manufacturing advanced weaponry, including Kalibr and Iskander missiles.

The Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) of Ukraine highlighted the strategic significance of the Kazan Gunpowder Plant. Andrii Kovalenko, head of the CCD, noted that the facility plays a central role in supplying munitions and materials vital for the Russian military’s operations.

“The Kazan Gunpowder Plant is one of the backbone enterprises of Russia’s military-industrial complex,” Kovalenko stated. “Its operations are indispensable for the serial production of ammunition and missiles.”
