According to Russian authorities, two people were injured and hospitalized. The attack also caused damage to five residential buildings, one of the port’s piers, a gas pipeline in a residential area, and equipment at the oil refinery.

The regional operational headquarters said a fire that broke out on one of the port’s piers was extinguished quickly. The blaze at the refinery was put out over an area of about 300 square meters. A total of 64 personnel and 16 pieces of equipment were involved in the response, including units of Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry in the Krasnodar region.

According to an OSINT analysis by the ASTRA project, the footage was filmed roughly one kilometer from the burning facility.

Preliminary reports indicate that the AVT-12 unit may have caught fire. This unit is a key component of the refinery’s primary oil processing system, responsible for atmospheric and vacuum distillation of crude oil. The plant’s capacity is estimated at around 12 million tons of oil per year.

The Tuapse Oil Refinery is operated by Rosneft subsidiary RN-Tuapsinsky Refinery and functions as a single production complex with the company’s maritime terminal in the port of Tuapse. The facility is part of the Russian state-owned oil company Rosneft.

Earlier, operations at Russia’s Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery were halted after a drone strike damaged key equipment.

The attack forced the shutdown of both primary crude distillation units at the facility, which has an annual processing capacity of 5 million tons and ranks among the largest refineries in southern Russia. The plant is located in the Rostov region.
