The Azov Brigade has released footage from a reconnaissance drone showing Russian soldiers severing the limb of a fallen comrade on August 22.
The video, recorded by the 12th Brigade’s UAV, captures two armed individuals using an axe to remove a limb from a deceased soldier before returning to their positions.
The circumstances behind the act remain unclear. According to the Azov Brigade, the reason—whether for food, looting, or as a trophy—has not been determined. “This video serves as further evidence that such actions have no place on our land,” the brigade stated.
The Azov Brigade has presented the footage as documentation of battlefield activities.
Earlier, the UN reported that 95% of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Russia had been subjected to torture, including beatings with metal rods, electric shocks, and other forms of abuse. According to Danielle Bell, head of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Kyiv, these practices are widespread and systematic, beginning from the first interrogation.
