Multiple drones attacked the Russian city of Ryazan overnight, triggering air defense activity and a fire near an oil refinery, according to RBC-Ukraine on November 15.

RBC-Ukraine, citing Russian media and local Telegram channels, reported that air defense systems were operating over the city as “unknown” unmanned aerial vehicles approached, with local online communities claiming more than ten explosions in the area of the refinery.

“Ryazan, the local oil refinery is under attack, locals report more than 10 explosions,” one caption on Telegram said, alongside footage that showed flashes in the night sky followed by fire and smoke over an industrial zone.

According to RBC-Ukraine, images and videos posted by eyewitnesses depicted a bright glow, explosions, flame, and plumes of smoke rising from the vicinity of the facility.

RBC-Ukraine noted that Russian Telegram channels also reported drones flying at the height of multi-story apartment buildings in the wider Ryazan region.

As of the time of publication, the outlet said there had been no official confirmation or denial of the attack from local authorities in Ryazan.

Earlier, it was reported that the Ryazan oil refinery stopped operations after Ukrainian drone strikes on January 24 and 26 damaged a storage facility, a hydrotreating unit, and railway loading facilities.
