Emmanuel Macron Calls Russian Aggression a Global Challenge for Europe

The French President Emmanuel Macron, in a speech on March 5, described the threat posed by Russia as one that “affects the countries of Europe, it affects us,” and accused Russia of turning the war against Ukraine, into a global issue.
He emphasized that “Russia is testing our limits: in the air, at sea, in space, and behind our screens. This aggression seems to know no borders.” Macron also observed that Russia “continues to rearm,” asking, “Who could believe that, in this context, today’s Russia will stop at Ukraine? Russia has become (…) a threat to France and to Europe.”
Three years after the outbreak of the war against Ukraine, Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed that the war in Ukriane “has caused nearly a million deaths and injuries, and continues with the same intensity.”
He pointed out that “the United States, our ally, has changed its position on this war, supports Ukraine less, and casts doubt on the future.” Adding that “our prosperity and security” in Europe “have become more uncertain,” noting that “we are entering a new era.”
Earlier on March 5, it was reported that France is considering using frozen Russian assets to assist Ukraine.
