The European Commission has announced a €910 million investment under the European Defence Fund (EDF). The funding will be directed toward strengthening Europe's defense capabilities through innovation and cross-border cooperation, with a focus on addressing critical capability gaps.

According to the European Commission, the investment will enhance armed forces mobility and protection against unmanned aerial systems, aligning with broader efforts to modernize and consolidate the European defense landscape. The initiative promotes collaboration between scientific and industrial actors across Europe, including Ukraine.

The Commission emphasized that this deepening cooperation is driven by the EU Defence Innovation Office in Kyiv. Through strategic information and outreach activities, the office is fostering stronger institutional and industrial links, paving the way for Ukraine’s progressive integration into the European defense industrial base.

These investments are part of the EU’s long-term vision as outlined in the "Rearmament of Europe" Readiness Plan and the Joint White Paper on European Defence Readiness, both targeting increased defense resilience and strategic autonomy by 2030.
