EU’s Kaja Kallas Rejects Putin’s Demand to End Arms Supplies to Ukraine
Kaja Kallas, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of European External Action Service, attends the special EU leaders meeting with the head of states in Brussels and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelen

Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, rejected Moscow’s demand to stop arms supplies to Ukraine, calling it unacceptable in light of Russia’s ongoing aggressive war against the country. This was reported by DW on March 19.

“If they (Russia) succeed in stopping Ukraine from receiving military aid, they will be free to act however they want because the Ukrainians won’t be able to defend themselves,” Kallas warned.

Commenting on the phone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, the EU diplomat noted that it “clearly showed” that “Russia has no intention of making any real concessions.”

Earlier, Putin stated that halting arms deliveries to Kyiv was one of the conditions for ending attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure for 30 days. Putin also outlined other “significant issues,” which may include ensuring effective control over a potential ceasefire along the entire front line, halting forced mobilization in Ukraine, and stopping the rearmament of Ukraine’s military, according to the Kremlin.

Similarly, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius called the Kremlin’s demand for the complete cessation of Western support for Ukraine’s military as an “unacceptable” condition for peace. He emphasized that Putin aims to prevent further support to Ukraine, depriving it of the ability to effectively defend itself in the event of a new attack, either during or after a ceasefire.
