On October 19, 2024, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, met with a group of US Army veterans invited to Ukraine by the Ukrainian Freedom Fund.

According to HUR  The discussion included combat officers who have developed and executed strategic military missions for the US Army and allied forces across land, air, and sea.

The delegation featured notable figures, including General David McKiernan, who commanded multinational forces in Iraq and Afghanistan; Lieutenant General David Deptula, known for his key role in air operations during the Iraq War; Major General Charles Corcoran, with experience in operational leadership in various military campaigns; Rear Admiral Mark Montgomery, who served in various naval capacities; Brigadier General Yarypolk Hladkyi; and Colonel Andy Bain.

During the meeting, participants analyzed the global security situation in the context of the ongoing Russia’s war against Ukraine, sharing insights on potential future scenarios. Notably, they exchanged assessments regarding North Korea’s involvement in the war on Russia’s side.

Lieutenant General Budanov outlined the specifics of Ukraine’s resistance against the aggressor state, Russia, and expressed gratitude to the American officers for their ongoing support to Ukraine.

In turn, the American generals emphasized their commitment to continue advocacy efforts, particularly within the US Congress, to clarify the realities of the Russian-Ukrainian war and underscore the necessity of supporting Ukraine.
