As reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing sources in the Defense Forces, Budanov’s visit followed the successful operation to liberate the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant from Russian forces. The head of the Intelligence Directorate continued to oversee the progress and assessed the positions of the special units in Kharkiv region, which are critical to maintaining the defense on this front.

On September 24, Ukrainian forces secured control over the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant, a significant stronghold previously occupied by Russian forces. This was one of the first operations of its kind, as noted by representatives of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC), with Ukrainian troops successfully capturing the fortified position.

The Main Intelligence Directorate confirmed that the Ukrainian forces took around 20 Russian soldiers captive during the operation. Despite the damage sustained by the plant, Ukrainian troops maintained their positions, continuing the strategic defense of the region.

Budanov’s inspection is part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen the Security and Defense Forces, building on the successes of recent operations. During the visit, Budanov also awarded distinctions to intelligence officers who participated in the liberation of the plant.
