Explosions were reported in the temporarily occupied city of Donetsk, Militarnyi reported on November 5.
Regional media and eyewitnesses reported that at around 8:30 p.m., Russian air defense systems began responding to unidentified aerial targets. Shortly afterward, videos showing a series of powerful detonations appeared online.
Residents in local chat groups linked the explosions to the area near the former Donetsk International Airport and the nearby settlement of Spartak.
While the Defense Forces of Ukraine have not yet officially commented on the incident, analysts and local sources have previously noted Russian military activity in this area, including reports of construction at the former airport site in recent months.
Earlier reports suggested that the location may have been used for storing ammunition or drones, though this information has not been independently confirmed.
Previously, explosions rocked two Russian regional capitals as drones struck energy facilities near the cities of Oryol and Vladimir.
