Authors

Finland will send Ukraine a new military aid package worth nearly 160 million euros, President Alexander Stubb stated on Friday, June 28, at the government’s proposal.

This will be the 24th delivery of defense equipment from Finland to Ukraine, according to the Finnish Defense Ministry. For security reasons, the country does not disclose the exact contents of the package, as well as the methods and timing of the delivery of weapons.

“Finland intends to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s unjustified aggression. This is not only about Ukraine, but also about the right of all free peoples to exist. We Finns, from our own history, understand how important this issue is,” said Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen.

The ministry stressed that Finland is also participating in the Czech initiative on joint procurement of ammunition for the needs of the Ukrainian army. In addition, Finland is involved in the armored vehicle coalition led by Poland, Germany and Italy, and the information technology coalition led by Estonia and Luxembourg. The goal of the international coalitions is to provide long-term support to Ukraine.

The total value of defense equipment supplied by Finland to Ukraine is 2.2 billion euros.
