Finnish authorities are investigating reports of possible drone activity near a facility operated by defense company Nammo last week, Finnish media outlet Yle reported on February 11.

The Finnish National Bureau of Investigation has launched a probe into sightings of unmanned aerial vehicles near Nammo’s explosives manufacturing plant in Vihtavuori, located near Jyväskylä in southern Finland.

Officials have not disclosed further details, citing the need to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

Nammo, a Norwegian-Finnish defense group, is a key supplier of ammunition and explosives to European and NATO forces.

Earlier, the German military detected drones over its North Sea air base, monitoring Ukrainian forces training on the Patriot air defense system.

Surveillance incidents occurred in January 2025, with a total of six recorded cases. Attempts were made to shoot down the drones, but they were unsuccessful.

These incidents have become routine, with reports dating back to at least October 2022. At the time, the response was limited to electronic countermeasures, such as HP 47 portable jammer guns used by local police.
