Finnish Volunteer Medic 'Sipa' Killed in Action While Serving in Ukraine

A Finnish volunteer medic, known by the call sign "Sipa," has been killed in combat in Ukraine. His identity has not been disclosed, according to Your Finnish Friends, an organization dedicated to supporting foreign volunteers.

"Sipa gave up everything he owned to come to Ukraine and defend it, despite strong opposition from his mother. He had a mission and stayed true to it until the very end," the organization wrote in a tribute to the fallen medic.

Sipa was serving as a medic in the 1st Infantry Platoon of the International Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to Your Finnish Friends, he is now the sixth Finnish citizen to lose his life in the ongoing war.

Earlier, a Chinese national fighting alongside Ukrainian forces in the war against Russia was reportedly killed in action.

The International Legion of Defence Intelligence Ukraine was formed on March 7th, 2022. According to information from May 2024, a spokesperson for the International Legion of Ukraine stated that individuals from over 100 countries had joined the unit.
