Former US Prosecutor Jessica Aber Found Dead, Led Investigations Into Russian War Crimes

Jessica Aber, the former US attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, was found dead at her home on Saturday, March 22, according to the New York Post on March 23.
Alexandria Police discovered Aber unconscious at 9:20 a.m. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the 43-year-old lawyer.
Aber had led investigations into former CIA analyst Asif Rahman, who leaked classified documents about an Israeli strike on Iran via Telegram. She also oversaw the case against executives of Eleview International Inc., who illegally exported over six million dollars’ worth of American technology to Russia. Under her leadership, the US government also charged two Russian nationals with large-scale cyber fraud and money laundering.
In addition, Aber played a key role in the first criminal prosecution of Russian soldiers for crimes against a US citizen in Ukraine. Four Russian soldiers are accused of abducting and torturing an American in the Kherson region.
Authorities in Alexandria have stated that a medical examiner will determine the cause and circumstances of Aber’s death. Preliminary reports suggest it was related to a long-standing medical issue.
Two former senior Justice Department officials also confirmed that investigators found no signs of foul play.
