President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, General Keith Kellogg, clarified that he will not present a peace plan at the upcoming Munich Security Conference, contradicting earlier reports.

In a February 6 interview with Rob Schmitt Tonight on Newsmax, Kellogg emphasized that only Trump will make official statements regarding the peace plan.

General Keith Kellogg stated, “Look, there’s a report out from another news network that said that we’re going to present a peace plan next week. No, we’re not. I did not talk to that news network at all,” adding, “And the person that’s going to present the peace plan is the President of the United States, not Keith Kellogg. We’re going to lead it up to him to help him out, get it to a point where he delivers that. But that is not going to happen next week at all.”

In the same Newsmax interview, Kellogg emphasized Trump’s determination to bring the war to an end, “He knows about destruction. He knows about death, and he wants to end this war. I think he’s absolutely right (…) the only guy that can do that in the world and bring this to a conclusion is Donald J. Trump with the art of the deal. I really believe that’s what we’re going to see here happen in the near term. And he says he wants it done quickly.”

On Feb 5, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia is open to negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy while maintaining its position on his legitimacy. Peskov reiterated that Moscow does not recognize Zelenskyy as Ukraine’s legitimate leader but remains willing to engage in talks.
