Bruno Kahl, head of Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service (BND), has issued a stark warning regarding Russia’s military capabilities, stating that the country could potentially attack NATO territory by 2030. During a parliamentary hearing on October 14, Kahl highlighted a direct military threat from Russia, which he claims is preparing for aggressive actions against the alliance.

Kahl emphasized that Russian Armed Forces will likely be capable of launching an assault on NATO by the end of this decade. He pointed out that the Kremlin views Germany as a primary adversary due to its status as the second-largest supporter of Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict.

“We are in direct conflict with Russia,” Kahl remarked, noting that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is not only focused on Ukraine but is also concerned with establishing a new global order. He indicated that Russian intelligence services are increasingly employing various means of coercion without hesitation.

Kahl warned of the likelihood of further escalation in tensions and urged policymakers to equip German security services with the necessary resources and authority to counter these threats effectively.

Earlier, Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur expressed that an attack by Russia on a NATO member cannot be dismissed, referencing recent incidents involving Russian drone debris in Romania and missile incursions into Polish territory.
