If German troops use Taurus missiles to strike Moscow, Russia would have no choice but to retaliate by targeting Berlin, Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of Russia’s state broadcaster RT, stated on May 28 on her Telegram channel.

“In Moscow offices, they are discussing that if German troops strike Moscow with German weapons (and permission to use “Taurus” missiles can only mean this, since hohols  cannot operate or program their flight), then we have no choice but to strike Berlin,” Simonyan wrote.

Margarita Simonyan has faced sanctions from the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States due to her role in Russia’s state media and alleged involvement in influence operations abroad. These sanctions target her as part of broader efforts to counter Russian disinformation and interference in foreign elections.

In addition to her media work, she has been involved in various cultural and political discussions, often reflecting the Kremlin's perspectives on international affairs. Simonyan's influence extends beyond journalism, positioning her as a central figure in Russia's information warfare and global media outreach.

Her comments come amid ongoing debates about Germany’s potential supply of Taurus missiles to Ukraine, which could enhance Ukraine’s ability to strike deep into Russian territory.

Previously, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced on May 28, during a joint conference with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, that Germany and Ukraine will sign a memorandum for the purchase of Ukrainian-made long-range weapons systems.

Merz added that although he could not share specific details, German support would be expanded. However, when asked directly about potential Taurus missile deliveries, Merz responded, “We will maintain and increase our military assistance.”

Earlier on May 9, it was disclosed that the new German government plans to significantly restrict information about future arms shipments to Ukraine.

The term “Hohol” (plural “Hohols”) is a derogatory ethnic slur used in Russian to refer to Ukrainians. It has historical roots but is considered offensive and pejorative today, often employed in Russian propaganda or disparaging contexts.
