Russian FM Lavrov Claims “All of Europe” United Against Russia Under Nazi Banners

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claimed that modern-day Europe has once again united against Russia, comparing the current geopolitical situation to World War II, Lavrov said during a wreath-laying ceremony at the Russian Foreign Ministry on May 6.
“Now, once again, virtually all of Europe has rallied against us under the banner of Nazism — and I mean that literally — by supporting the openly racist, anti-Russian regime of [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy, which holds torchlight marches and throws fighters into the meat grinder wearing insignia of Nazi divisions on their sleeves,” Lavrov said.
Lavrov argued that Moscow must draw lessons from the Soviet Union’s wartime diplomacy during WWII when it built a coalition based solely on its national interests.

“Without naivety, without excessive trust in empty promises,” he added. “These lessons are invaluable, especially today when almost all of Europe is once again at war with us — conscripted and marching under Nazi banners.”
He further asserted that the West is aiming for Russia’s “strategic defeat” on the battlefield, just as it allegedly attempted under the British contingency plan known as Operation Unthinkable at the end of WWII.
Earlier, Lavrov criticized Western efforts to promote peace in Ukraine, accusing European leaders of attempting to maintain the current Ukrainian government under the guise of diplomatic initiatives.
In an interview with the Russian newspaper Kommersant, Lavrov said “All these peacekeeping schemes drawn up by the Macrons and the Starmers are based on the idea that they are needed to save at least a piece of land where a Nazi, openly Russophobic regime can continue to exist.”
