Russia’s Foreign Minister Lavrov Calls Zelenskyy “A Pure Nazi” in Interview

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has repeated previous inflammatory remarks about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling him a “pure Nazi” and a “traitor to the Jewish people,” on March 2 according to The Financial Times.

In the same interview with state media, he praised U.S. President Donald Trump for “following common sense” and “stepping aside” after signals that the White House may be shifting its stance on support for Ukraine.

Adding that “the initial reasons [for the invasion] will not have gone away.”

​Heorhii Tykhyi, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, said on X, “Such statements are not just insane. They must be called out for what they truly are: antisemitism.”

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Trump showed “restraint” by not confronting Zelenskyy, calling his claim that Kyiv faced Russia alone in 2022 “his biggest lie.”
