Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Arrives in Kyiv for Historic First Visit
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ukraine on August 23, marking his first visit to the country since the onset of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Indian diaspora greeted him at the Hyatt Hotel in Kyiv.
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The discussions are expected to cover issues related to bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and several documents between Ukraine and India are anticipated to be signed.
During his meeting with Zelenskyy, Modi is expected to discuss his vision and prospects for a resolution of the Russian war against Ukraine.
On July 19, 2024, the first conversation took place between Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, following Modi’s visit to Russia. The ministers discussed the further development of bilateral relations, emphasizing the commitment of both countries to strengthen cooperation and maintain dialogue.
