The 12th Szczecin Mechanized Brigade organized a special training session, called Brave Tiger (pl. Dzielny Tygrys), at the Drawsko training ground in Poland to familiarize civilian doctors—recently sworn in as military reservists—with the realities of battlefield medicine.

According to RMF24 on October 17, the exercises aimed to prepare medical personnel for real-life combat scenarios and the procedures used in warzones.

The drills included simulations of typical battlefield injuries, such as lacerations and gunshot wounds from artillery shelling, modeled on the experience of Ukrainian military medics.

“We prepared a series of mock injuries. These are wounds typical for combat conditions, such as lacerations and gunshot wounds from artillery shells. We rely on Ukraine’s experience and try to recreate similar situations to practice those that most often occur in modern conflicts,” said Brigadier General Dariusz Czekaj, commander of the 12th Mechanized Brigade, in an interview with RMF24.

Military surgeon Professor Maciej Romanowski emphasized the importance of such preparation: “A well-functioning medical service during war will significantly boost the morale of our soldiers, because they will know that we’ll save them.”

Earlier, while on leave in London, three combat medics from Ukraine’s Third Army Corps rushed to aid a man injured in a severe road accident. They were the first to respond, delivering life-saving first aid and stabilizing the victim before local paramedics reached the scene.
