Iran Supplies Russia with Advanced Aerial Bombs Qaem-5 Likely For Use in Ukraine

An Iranian Qods Mohajer-6 drone crashed in Russia’s Kursk region on May 27, according to BILD’s open-source intelligence expert Julian Ropke.

The crashed drone was carrying the latest Iranian guided aerial bombs, the Qaem-5, which only entered service in Iran in 2019. The drone was likely headed for an attack on Ukraine’s Sumy region but went down for unknown reasons.

Ropke suggests that the use of these high-precision bombs, previously unused by Russia in Ukraine, signifies a “new level” of military cooperation between Tehran and Moscow.

Western intelligence had previously indicated having information about a growing alliance between Iran and Russia on the transfer of ballistic missiles and advanced air defense technology.
