The Israeli military (IDF) recently struck an Iranian nuclear site near Tehran that it described as supporting “critical capabilities” for nuclear weapons development, according to The Times of Israel on March 12.
The statement identified the site as the Taleghan compound. It was reported that the facility was hit during recent Israeli air force strikes in the Tehran area over the past few days.

The Israel Defense Forces stated that Iran had used the compound in recent years to develop advanced explosives and conduct sensitive experiments tied to the AMAD Project .
The military also stated it had detected Iranian efforts to rehabilitate the compound after an earlier Israeli strike in October 2024.
“The Iranian regime has continued efforts to advance and develop capabilities required for the development of a nuclear weapon,” the IDF stated, as quoted by The Times of Israel.
It added that the latest strike was part of a broader series of operations targeting Iran’s nuclear program.

The strike came amid Russia openly declaring support for Iran, with Ambassador Andrei Kelin saying Moscow is “not neutral” and arguing foreign governments ignore that the US and Israel “started the attack” and Iran is responding.
The remarks were described as one of Moscow’s clearest public acknowledgments of political alignment with Tehran as the regional confrontation intensifies following strikes on Iranian facilities near Tehran and rising accusations that Iran is destabilizing the Middle East.
